Additional Information

Track Clearance: Four inches minimum is recommended between the machine and the inside of the tire. Note that fenders must also have adequate clearance between the fender and tire. If additional clearance is needed, proper wheel spacers can be installed. If accepted by the machine manufacturer, the wheels could also be switched around to face the offset outwards, thus spacing the wheel away from the machine.

If your machine has worn tires: Track to tire traction can become an issue. If track to tire traction is an issue, we recommend adding two carriage bolts with lock nuts into 4-6 cleats evenly spaced on each side pointing towards the tires. Note: Excess bolt must be trimmed flush with the locknut or tire damage may occur.

Snow & Ice: The tracks will slide in these conditions. We find it is best to add carriage bolts or grade 8 bolts pointing out to the ground for traction. We have found 5/16 by 3/4" long bolts are plenty long enough for this.

Mud & Manure: Our wide tracks cleats will provide floatation. Note how some other brands use narrow steel bars which provides less surface area for the machine to distribute weight.

Concrete & Asphalt: Tracks will scratch and score the surface. If this is an issue we recommend going with all rubber tracks or adding rubber pads to prevent damage to the work surface.

Installation Tips

Warning: Always make sure the machine is turned off with the key removed and hydraulic pressure released. Do not rely on the loader to hold the machines front tires off the ground. Always use properly rated jack stands. Wear proper PPE such as safety glasses, gloves and steel toe boots. Work on a level surface with the machines parking brake on.

  1. Installing these tracks will take at least an hour per side depending upon the wheelbase of the machine.
  2. Attach the cleats and links using a carriage bolt and lock nut.
  3. Do not overtighten the nuts or the rotation radius of the links can become an issue.
  4. Once all links and cleats are assembled, lay the track out in line on a level working surface. Carefully drive the machine onto the track and lift the front tires to allow the track to move under the tire for tensioning purposes. Caution: Use adequate jack stands to hold the machine in the air. Do not rely on the machines hydraulics.
  5. We highly recommend cutting a 2x4 to size and setting it between the tires to support the tracks when the final tensioning is made.
  6. Using a flat hook ratchet strap across the top of the links helps to pull the slack from the bottom of the tracks. A standard hook strap can be used on the last two cleats in order to pull them inline and attach the links. Use caution when working with the ratchet straps.
  7. The final link may come out a little short or a little longer than the standard link. We have provided short and long links for this reason. The length can also be adjusted by moving the bolts to the inside holes on the links as needed.
  8. After initial installation the tracks will stretch and require retensioning a few times.
