Installation instructions:
1. Check that the inside of the tail housing is clean. Especially the shifter slides and bearing surfaces.
2. Lubricate the shifter slides and bearing surfaces with assembly lubricant. With the OE tail housing removed "dry fit" the new housing. Install four of the provided bolts to hold the tail housing in place on the transmission.
3. Using supplied shims install the shifter detent and the new reverse light switch. This may take a few attempts. Check that the reverse lights are operating as they should. Too little shim on the reverse light switch and they will come on when shifting near 6th. The reverse light switch typically needs about 0.1" of shim. The shifter detent should be shimmed until it feels similar as before. The detent usually requires about 0.325" of shims. Not shimming the detent could cause damage to the detent and will make the shifter feel very tight.
4. Verify the output shaft on the transmission spins freely when in neutral. Failure to do so may result in transmission damage.
5. Now remove the housing, apply a generous bead of silicone and follow the silicone manufacturers instructions. We prefer Permatex® The Right Stuff®. Reinstall the tail housing and torque the bolts to 30 ft-lbs or 360 in-lbs.
6. Final assembly of transfer case, driveshaft and fill transmission with oil.
